VFW Auxiliary to Post 7765
We are the families of Red Hook's veterans: spouses, parents, children, siblings and grandchildren who work side by side with VFW Post 7765 to serve veterans, service members, their families and our community.
What we do
The Post and the Auxiliary are one team. When there's an event at the Post, the Auxiliary is usually in the kitchen, at the door, or behind the scenes making it happen.
At the Post
We co-host Post events and fundraisers, run the kitchen with light menus at special events, and help with dinners, ceremonies and gatherings throughout the year.
For veterans and families
We look out for veterans, service members and their families, here in Red Hook and through the national VFW Auxiliary's programs for hospitalized veterans and military families.
In our community
We promote patriotism and support local youth through VFW Auxiliary programs, including scholarship and essay contests for students, Buddy Poppy distributions and Americanism activities.

Who can join
Auxiliary membership is open to anyone 16 or older who is the family member of a veteran who is, or was, eligible for the VFW. The veteran does not have to be a VFW member, and can be living or deceased.

- Step & adopted family
Step and adopted parents, children, siblings, half-siblings, grandparents and grandchildren count the same as biological family. Veterans who are eligible for the VFW itself join the Post rather than the Auxiliary. Post membership →
How to join
- Find your veteran's eligibility. VFW eligibility comes from a campaign medal for overseas service, 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days in Korea, or hostile fire or imminent danger pay.
- Get proof of service. A copy of the veteran's DD-214 (or similar record) is needed with your application. The National Archives can help you request one.
- Reach out to us. Send a message below or ask at the Post. We'll help with the application and welcome you to our next meeting.
